Creative Director/CEO

Hi there, it’s Tracy Gentles (she/her) here. I have 20+ years experience working within the creative industries, developing a practice that explores the performing arts interface with academia, health, social justice, and more recently, technology.

I am the founding Creative Director / CEO of STAF which was set up as a charity to build on the work of previously led organisations; our continuing arts, health an social change programme The Sick of the Fringe and arts development and producing organisation, In Company Collective.

As a working class, woman of colour, who grew up in East Manchester, matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion can be found at the heart of all my work, driven by my lived experience.

I have a long history of supporting artists and artist led-organisations, championing critical voices from the fringes of the arts, and society in general, to infiltrate into mainstream conversations, increase impact, deepen engagement, and create entry points for the audiences and participants of today, and those of the future.

Whilst also developing creative frameworks which prioritise bringing diverse audiences and ideas together, building critical mass to support innovation and change.

Outside of those I have previously supported through STAF, I have also held roles at Dance Umbrella, Clod Ensemble, Sadler’s Wells and the University of Salford. Whilst I am proud to sit on the Board of Trustees at Raze Collective, and be an Artist Fellow at Queen Mary University of London.
