In 2024, we received funding from the GM Arts programme to create a brand new network of artists and creatives, running events centred around wellbeing pop-up spaces for thinking, discussion, and collaborating.
The network connects artists at any stage, professional or non-professional. All disciplines are welcome to join the network, from actors and playwrights, through digital artists and sound editors, to painters and musicians. Although the network is predominately for Manchester residents, our events welcome anyone.
Across 2024–25, we held seven events in different parts of Manchester, welcoming 88 members to the network. Events took place in community centres, arts spaces, independent restaurants and creative workspaces. They were designed as casual, low-pressure gatherings, with no enforced interaction, free food, support for access needs, and STAF staff available to help people share questions, requests and opportunities with the room.
Takeaways from some of our network event attendees:
"Empowerment as an artist"
"Wellbeing is absolutely vital"
"I'm not alone in the wilderness"
"There are communities and there are people that
are supporting each other and asking for help"
