Something To Aim For was commissioned by Manchester City Council to convene and manage the Anti-Poverty Insight Group, as part of “Making Manchester Fairer”, their Anti-Poverty Strategy, the Council’s five-year plan to tackle health inequalities, including poverty and debt. 

Beginning with a co-creation process, STAF helped shape an inclusive and accessible approach to the Group. We contributed to recruitment and support processes, bringing together Manchester residents with lived experience of poverty and professionals from the voluntary and community sector. Across 12 meetings held between October 2024 and January 2026, members shared their insights and influenced decisions directly affecting their communities. 

The Group is part of the governance of the Making Manchester Fairer programme, playing a crucial role by providing invaluable insights, challenges, and recommendations to shape the Council’s approach to the delivery of the Anti-Poverty Strategy.
