Are you…

…an artist setting up a new venture and not sure where to start?
…a creative juggling leadership responsibilities with artistic direction?
…feeling lost, burnt-out, and thinking of dropping out of the arts?

At STAF, we know creativity doesn’t follow a straight line. We offer thoughtful, practical support to help you move forward with clarity and care. Our approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in the realities of creative work. Because we’ve been there too.

Why Work With STAF?

  • We understand a creative world that’s often under-resourced and values-driven.

  • We bring lived and professional experience.

  • We understand the realities faced by many of the people we support, because we’ve lived them too. We combine that with years of experience supporting creative-led people and organisations across the sector.

  • Our aim is to build your capacity, not do the work for you, so your success is lasting and sustainable.

  • We care because your success is tied to our mission: building a fairer, more inclusive creative sector.

  • We listen first – support starts with understanding, not assumptions

What We Offer

Practical Dreaming

Our signature process for creatives and creative-led organisations to reflect, dream, and plan. Across four sessions, we explore your past, present, and future, helping you reconnect with what inspires you, envision what’s next, and create a clear pathway to get there. Unlike traditional strategic planning, Practical Dreaming blends deep reflection, blue-sky thinking, and practical steps, so you leave with both renewed clarity and a concrete way forward.

Light Touch Support

Sometimes you just need another pair of eyes. We can review your CV, funding application, or other key documents, and offer constructive feedback to strengthen your case. Quick, focused, and designed to give you confidence before you hit send.

Organisational Roadmapping

For start-ups, collectives, or solo creatives ready to (re)start. We help you map your direction, clarify your vision, and build a plan that fits your goals, values, and capacity.

Creative Leadership Support

Transitioning into leadership? Coaching-style support for creatives stepping into leadership. We help with governance, decision-making, finance, policies, and operations – building your confidence and capacity to lead sustainably, on your terms.

Strategic Planning

We support creative-led organisations to understand what’s working, what’s blocked, and how to grow. Using participatory methods and internal diagnostics, we help you make real plans rooted in your reality.

Inclusive Programming & Reflective Practice

We help you design programmes and organisational strategies that feel welcoming, inclusive, and aligned with your values and communities. Through creative feedback processes and reflective practice, we support you to evolve how you work and who you reach.

Bespoke Support

Sometimes, you’re not sure what the problem is, just that things feel stuck. We listen, reflect, and help you find the right questions, with practical suggestions for a way forward.

Our Rates

We believe in being open about costs from the start.

Our rates are a range, depending on scale, complexity, and client circumstances.

  • Day rate: £400–£600

  • Hourly rate: £80-100

A Practical Dreaming course is usually around 3 days’ of our work in total. Other services vary depending on your needs, so we’ll be able to give you a clear estimate after our first conversation.

We also offer a sliding scale and, in some cases, pro bono support. If you need our help but cost is a barrier, please get in touch. We’ll work with you to find a way forward. We are re-launching our Practical Dreaming Fund, which will help subsidise places for those who would benefit most from our support.

How We Work Together

Step 1: First Conversation (Free, 30–45 minutes)

We start with a relaxed chat about your challenges, ambitions, and where you’d like support. We’ll ask questions, but mostly we’ll listen.

Step 2: Our Proposal

After our conversation, we’ll send you a short summary and a tailored proposal outlining how we can help, what the process will look like, and an estimate of the days or hours required.

Step 3: Getting Started

If you’re happy with the proposal, we’ll book in the sessions and get to work, keeping the process collaborative, transparent, and tailored to your needs.
